Nigerian-born Yinka Dare was drafted 14th overall by the New Jersey Nets in 1994. He tore his ACL just three minutes into his first ever game and missed the entire season.
In his second season, he played in 58 games without recording a single assist.
45 games into his career, he was asked how he felt about still having not registered a single assist. His response: “I’m not going to rush it. I’m not going to force it.”
In his third season, after 77 games and 770 minutes, with fans starting to boo when players missed shots that would’ve ended Dare’s dubious streak, he finally earned his first assist.
Dare’s NBA career would span four years and 110 games. In total, he registered four assists against 96 turnovers.
